Ebb & Flow
48 x 60"
Resin, Sand & Paint on canvas
Statement from the artist: “While working on this commission for the last few months, I couldn’t help but be consumed by the family that would own it, and the children who would see it daily as they grow up. Would it give them a sense of wonder at the beauty of the earth? Or inspire them to create something themselves? Or simply provide an escape when we all have that urge to run away to the beach. As their lives, patterns, and interests ebb and flow, I hope this provides some peace and relaxation through it all.” (Part of a Private Collection in Westport, Connecticut)
Union
16 x 20"
Resin, Sand & Paint on canvas
Statement from the artist: “This piece was commissioned as a wedding gift for a couple who was married in central California last year. To make it unique to them, I based the coastline off the entire Monterrey and Big Sur area. I then added in both Northern & Southern California elements for each of them (Trees, turquoise waters). This now lives in their home as a Venn Diagram of sorts, visually evoking a sense of their new unified life.” (Part of a Private Collection in Los Angeles, California)
Lake Erie
18 x 24"
Resin, Sand & Paint on canvas
Statement from the artist: “This piece, with its icy blue waters and meandering waves, is meant to be reminiscent of the south shore of Lake Erie, near Cleveland. We all have some specific coastline that’s synonymous with family trips, relaxing summers, and vacation memories.” (Part of a Private Collection in Cleveland, Ohio)
Hither Hills
36 x 48"
Resin, Sand & Paint on canvas
Statement from the artist: “This commission was done for a couple that spent much of their courtship on a specific beach in Montauk, NY. After moving to Denver, they wanted a reminder of that time right in the heart of their home. “ (Part of a Private Collection in Denver, Colorado)
Ohana
60 x 90"
Resin, Sand, Foam & Paint on canvas
Statement from the artist: “At 5ft by 7.5ft, this is definitely the largest piece I’ve ever done. The client, a family in the Bay Area, wanted a specific coastline of Hilo Bay, Hawaii. The mother’s family is from there, and she spent her summers visiting, spending time with Grandma and her Uncle, surfing, relaxing. Now she and her husband take their kids there in the summer to continue the tradition, and remind them of their heritage. Ohana means family, and the 18 tributaries are rivers that come down from the Big Island mountains to join the sea.” (Part of a Private Collection in Lafayette, California)
Molera
24 x 60"
Resin, Sand, Paint, UV Paint & Glow Pigment on wood
Statement from the artist: “I had the pleasure of doing a commission for some dear friends who gave me so much creative control, letting me have a lot of fun with this piece. They had just gotten engaged at Molera Beach in Big Sur, CA (after hiking in the trails you see in Parts B & C, they swam out to a big boulder out in the ocean where the question was popped) and wanted a piece to commemorate this personal moment and location. Since I know how they appreciate different lighting schemes in their home, I took the opportunity to use both UV-reactive paint and various glow-in-the-dark pigments in the water. The pictures below show the piece in regular light, blacklight, and no light at all (right when you turn off the lights; those bright colors eventually fade).” (Part of a Private Collection in New York, New York)
Confluence
48 x 30"
Resin, Sand, Paint & Foam on Wood
(Part of a Private Collection in San Francisco, California)
